Classroom Pictures...Before

So here are some pictures of our classroom before I started setting it up!

I have a little work to do!!
I will post more pictures tomorrow.  The room is more put together than these pictures show.  I took these before I arranged the furniture.

Supply List

Since parent letters are arriving today or tomorrow and this weekend is the tax free shopping weekend, I thought I would post our supply list.  I am going to send this out to a few parents and hopefully others will find us.  I know phones will be ringing as soon as letters start arriving.

1. Small Rest Mat:   These can be found at Target and Walmat.  Please do not send in yoga or exercise mats, these tend to be bulky and we have limited storage space.

2.  Glue Sticks:  at least 6 small and 2 large, more would be greatly appreciated!

3.  2-3 boxes of 24 Crayola Crayons:  Target and Walmart have these for 40 cents

4.  2 Hardcover Composition Books:  These are also 40 cents at Target and Walmart.  You don't need to get the fancy covers, I will be putting a "fancy label" on it.  Make sure they are wide ruled!   I am taking these off the supply list.  Office Depot had them for 25 cents and I got all that we needed!

5.  1 box of Crayola Markers:  thick or thin, 99 and 97 cents at, you guessed it, Target and Walmart

6.  Change of Clothes:  These need to be uniform colors and will be kept in backpacks.  (underwear and socks too!)

7.  Backpack:  no wheels please!  These should be big enough for children to fit their folder and papers inside.

I am pretty well stocked on tissues, baby wipes, zip loc bags and hand sanitizer and will ask for those if needed later on in the year!

Please feel free to bring supplies to Meet Your Teacher day.  It helps if all supplies are in a bag with your child's name on the bag.  You do not need to write their names on the idividual supplies.

I would strongly suggest that in addition to these items you also
purchase a pencil box to keep at home and set it up with homework
supplies. Your child will need pencils, crayons, gluesticks and scissors
(strongly recommend Fiskars brand).

Happy Shopping!

A new year, a new blog

Well, I have done it now...I have finally started a blog.  I have wanted to do this for a while.  I am going to take this one step at a time and see how it goes.

The first step was trying to decide what to name this blog, so I put it out on Facebook and asked for some ideas.  I always had the fallback of Mrs. Windom's Kindergarten Class.  I chose Mrs. Windom's Window because parents always want to take a peek and see what is happening in the classroom.   This might change but for now I am going with it!

Step two...figure out how this blogging thing actually works.  I get the adding posts and all that but now I need to figure out how to make it look the way I want it to look.  There are a lot of teacher blogs out there and they look wonderful, but for right now I am going to stick to the basics while I figure this out and, oh yeah, start the school year!
